![]() Fellowship ProgramMajor Goals of Training Program
The Pediatric Allergy/Clinical Immunology program is a 2-year program accredited by the Royal College of Physicians of Canada. The program includes a minimum of 12 months of pediatric A/I training at the Montreal Children's Hospital, 3 months of adult A/I training at the Montreal General Hospital and the Royal Victoria Hospital, 1 month of clinical laboratory medicine, 2 months of clinical epidemiology course work, and 6 months of research.Clinical activities include general asthma and allergy clinics, specialty clinics in food, drug, and venom allergies, as well as adverse vaccine reactions. There is a weekly immunodeficiency clinic as well as a day hospital for patients treated with IVIG. There is opportunity for participation in the pediatric and adult HIV clinics, and there is exposure to both pediatric and adult connective tissue diseases. Academic activities include a summer introductory lecture series, weekly resident presentations, weekly journal club, and monthly discussion forums. Fellows participate in local, provincial, national and international allergy meetings as well as cross-Canada allergy/immunology case discussions via video-conferencing. Fellows are also enrolled in a McGill University immunology course during their first year of fellowship. At the successful completion of training, fellows are eligible to write the following certifying exams: ABAI, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the College of Physicians of Quebec. Graduates of Canadian and American residency programs are invited to apply. |
